What to expect in Soho New York

Soho New York is synonymous to branded little shops. Or equally synonymous to cobblestoned streets, too. Or more famously synonymous to Sex and the City (SATC), a TV show that mentioned the neighbourhood—almost in every episode for five years! And of course, in Soho, you can find the world’s grandest collection amd highest concentration of iron cast buildings. Soho, nowadays, is one the most expensive neighborhoods in New York. Not to mention the Holloywood stars who live and shop around here.

In my solo stroll around the neighbourhood, here’s what I found out:

Is this building familiar to you? Remember that movie GHOST, starring Demi Moore and Patrick Swayze? Well, in that movie, Demi lives here. It’s also in one of the streets in Soho where patrick’s character was mugged and died. Thus, he becomes a ghost  for the rest of the movie. 🙁

Second Time Around is not your regular thrift shop. As you can read, “resale goes upscale.” And why not? This shop sells super expensive stuff, including those dresses and accessories worn by movie actors in movies and television shows.

Do you remember that episode in Sex and the City (SATC) where Charlotte goes into an art gallery? This is it.

On Sundays (I think), artists / art galleries bring their arts on the streets so people will be aware of what they’re working on. I must admit, the art galleries in Soho are kind of intimidating. I only went to one—because I’m too shy to go inside in my hobo travel clothes. LOL…

Under the half moon, this building is stunning. This is the first iron cast building in Soho that prompted the style to propagate around the area.

This dome building is the first police headquarter in New York. And if you think it looks familiar—that’s because it’s seen in the movie, Gangs of New York, starred by the once delicious heartthrob, Leonardo DiCaprio. 🙂
