My First Flash Mob

Before coming to Toronto, I connected my flight in Shanghai so I could see the extravagance of the 2010 Shanghai World Expo which the government spent more than they spent during the 2008 Summer Olympic Games.

During my 5-day sojourn, three friends and I joined a flash mob organized by a group of international students who run urbanrecipes.ning.com, a community the helps spreading the good initiatives all over the world.

We queued up under the searing heat of the sun at the Danish Pavilion where the event happened.

We met up with the rest of the flash mobbers and had brief instructions on how things would go. And then the rest was history….

There was so much fun and the Chinese crowd must have thought we were crazy dancing like there’s no tomorrow. You must have seen their VERY surprised and amused faces.

Lookah. Lookah. Lookah. I’m not that really hard to be identified.

At the end of our little performance, we dipped ourselves into the water where Denmark’s famous mermaid statue was brought there for the Expo. And there was a camera that directly oversees it, just in case of heist? And that camera broadcasted live in Copenhagen!
