Ottawa: Parliament Hill Centennial Flame

Centennial Flame
Parliament Hill
Ottawa, Canada

Located just above the Queen’s Gate of Parliament Hill, the Centennial Flame was erected temporarily as a symbol of celebration of Canada’s 100 years as a Confederation. But, due to public support, the flame still stands today.

One interesting fact of this cauldron is that many people use / thought of this as a wishing well that they actually throw coins for luck. The maintenance would then gather all these coins and clean them before depositing them in a bank. The money saved is given to the winner of Centennial Flame Research Award. The winner should be “a person of disability…”
