Indian Head Cove – Where Colors Dazzle From Sunrise to Sunset

Every hiker along the Bruce Trail and every camper at Cyprus Lake Camp Ground will be rewarded with the panoramic view of Georgian Bay from the Indian Head Cove where visitors usually take a dip into its turquoise water that you can literally see the lakebed even from the highest point.

Right after I finished setting up my tent, I walked for thirty minutes following the Cyprus and Bruce Trails to see what’s the excitement about this Indian Head Cove. I have seen pictures but it’s always different when you see it yourself. The trails are well-maintained and wheel-chair / stroller-accessible. But, be aware that the trails aren’t concrete but hard gravel and dusty in most parts. Along the way, you’ll see some rabbits (I saw two), and squirrels (or maybe, they were raccoons). Don’t expect any bears. LOL…

When I arrived, this was what greeted me.

Indian Head Cove Grotto

Some were swimming, others were resting, few were camwhoring….

…and some were exploring.

The Grotto Bruce Peninsula

While these two were snorkeling…

… a kid jumped when his parents weren’t watching—or maybe, they were—and were taking photos of his feat.

I moved to another spot, somewhere higher and dangerous.

I love heights, you know. Always have been.

Then I saw this couple talking.

She didn’t like what he said, so she flew…

..but not that far from where he was. Maybe, she just needed some space.

I walked on the beach and picked up some stones.

And I found this platform cliff where I stayed ’til sunset.

The next day, in my quest to be alone, I woke up at 6:30 to avoid the crowd.

What a stunning beauty before me!

The sunrise turned everything gold like Mida’s touch…

…and the water was as calm as a monk in prayer.

So, I decided to stay in for a while ……

…did my morning stretch…

…and recited the OM, to find Nirvana.

I explored some more cliffs…..

…and one more…..

….. ’til it’s time to check and figure out how far, how deep, how long and what would happen if…..?

Slowly, I tried to test my courage…

Warning: Don’t do this if you have fear of heights and if the wind is strong.

….. until I felt comfortable with it. It was one of the best feelings I have had in a long time.

And while sitting there, I literally thought about this quote….

I continued my hike.

I saw an English hat left by someone on the beach.

Bruce Peninsula Tobermory

Then, this bird came past my feet, unthreatened of my presence.

Inspired by the bird, I dipped my right foot and tested how warm the water was.

Swimming in Bruce Peninsula

And I like it! So, I spread my sarong on a pebbled shore…..

….. stripped off my everything (not really)…..

….. and in slow motion, I waded through the warm, crystal clear water of Georgian Bay.

 For 15 minutes, I was a merman.

When the water chilled down to my inner core, I laid down on the beach and saw this wondrous sky.

Then, I realized, I wasn’t alone anymore.

I gathered my things and climbed to the other side of the Indian Head Cove.

Everyone thought this is The Grotto. But, it isn’t.

I tried to go down….

…but with a backpack, a camera and a tripod, it was hard to do it. So, I decided to leave it unexplored.

Really love your photo on the cliff. How high is that? Looks scary.

Tanya, I’m not really sure how high is that but it’s pretty high–dangerous enough to die if someone wants to jump. 🙂
