Couchsurfing: Surfing the World, One Couch at a Time

I’ve been meaning to introduce COUCHSURFING here in my blog ever since I started this online journal slash shameless self-promotion.

I have already posted some photos of CS events with my couchsurfing friends but I haven’t really sat down and wrote something about this wonderful idea that brings people of different colors, shapes, sizes, cultures, beliefs and lifestyles into a couch.

It’s not necessarily a couch. A space will do but bigger than a capsule hotel, for sure. I literally offered someone my carpet and he agreed to it without even asking the color of my carpet. Hahahaha…

I hosted Jordan in April 2009. This video was cut off due to circumstances beyond our control. :)) I don’t wanna talk too much about Couchsurfing. Just click the video and get to know the gist. Or just click this LINK.

COUCHSURFING isn’t about the furniture- it’s not just about finding free accommodations around the world- it’s about participating in creating a better world. We strive to make a better world by opening our homes, our hearts, and our lives. We open our minds and welcome the knowledge that cultural exchange makes available. We create deep and meaningful connections that cross oceans, continents and cultures.CouchSurfing wants to change not only the way we travel, but how we relate to the world!

I love to host people.

So far, I have hosted 35 wondrous creatures from 17 countries.

I love to listen to their stories.

I love the feeling when someone tells me about his travels and it makes me feel like I’ve known the places he has visited first hand—from a modern nomad who just happens to visit those places ahead of me.

Someday…I’ll be stepping on the same footsteps were they’ve been to.

The best thing about coucsurfing is: you get to know people and a BIT of everything about them. It’s not necessarily EVERYTHING. You learn from them and they learn from you. Well, I hope my couchsurfers really learned from me. :))

By just offering a couch to complete strangers from afar, couchsurfing is not just forging friendships but, also, building trusts and a better world.

By just offering a couch or showing someone the city that you love, you are embracing the idea that random act of kindness will go far and beyond.

Everytime I’m asked about safety of letting in weird, cool, fun, hip, stinky, gorgeous, whorish, bitchy, fabulous, fag hag couchsurfers to my flat, I’d just smile and answer like a beauty queen, “I believe in the goodness men.”
